Spider Baby:
There are so many legendary films that paved the way to the horror genre we
know today. Romero influenced following zombie films, Michael Myers influenced
the unstoppable killers, and Spider Baby brought us the idea that the family that
slays together stays together! This fabulous classic film most likely won't be
found in Blockbuster's sad excuse for a horror section. I managed to find it for
rent after I made one of the best decisions of my life... I joined NetFlix! For
about $9 a month I get one movie out at a time and all of the streaming videos
from their "watch instantly" collection. Take that Blockbuster!
Anyway... onwards!

The Merrye family, while delightful, are cursed with a terrible disease that
causes them to mentally regress as they grow physically older. This causes the
children to become psychotic and murderous. This doesn't bother their caretaker
any, he loves them and is willing to protect them no matter how many bodies he
has to sweep under the rug.

I give this classic two severed thumbs up! If you haven't seen it you should,
even if it is for no other reason then to see a young Sid Haeg as the demented
son! This film makes me want to grab a couple kitchen knives and play "spider"
too... will you be my fly?

Lost Boys 2: The Tribe:
While I may be a card-carrying member of "Gen-Y" I do understand that many of
you who read this are not. So you adorable, acne-stricken darlings may have no
idea what "The Lost Boys" is all about. Well to sum it up, it is all about kickin'
some vampire ass in a campy "Two Coreys" kind of way! Unfortunately the
sequal is all about kickin' some vampire ass in an afternoon movie on the WB kind
of way. In one word... dull.

There were only a few saving graces in the this film. The first was seeing my
favorite monster maker Tom Savini decked out in full vampire makeup. The
second good point was that the gore and vampire effects were pretty decent.
The best part of the whole film was of course seeing Corey Feldman back in his
memorable role as "The Frog Man". It was like getting together with an old
friend.

So to all of you fans of the original I would tell you to see it just to see Feldman
again. To all of you who are still growing tits and listening to their voices crack I
wouldn't encourage you to see it.
